A little bit of metal bashing today and now have most of the floor and transmission tunnel made. Still have a bit of work to do on the passenger side to stop feet touching the exhaust! Will also need to get some sort of front bulkhead or it may be a bit draughty at the dizzy speeds it may reach!
Headlamp brackets next and then the wiring.......

  1. That looks great! Curious what gauge, type of alloy sheet you are using?

  2. Ahh well a lot thinner than you think! The floor and the rear bulkhead are made from fibreglass sheet, about 5mm. I have 'covered' these with very thin alloy sheet, so thin that you could cut it with scissors! The transmission tunnel is made out of 1.5mm, but the top part is also laminated with fibreglass sheet to give it a bit more strength should it get stood on.

    1. That's right, coming back to me, I believe in an earlier post you talked about this. So, I'm assuming the two sheets are bonded with a glue? A composite, I guess you'd call it.

  3. Yes, well held in place with double sided tape and then pop riveted around the edges. I did the same with the dashboard but used an adhesive to laminate them together.
