Lots of bits done today. Chopped out and re-made the steering column support as I didn't have enough room for the clutch foot. Modified the accelerator pedal, made the rear bulkhead so I have something to rest my back on and filled and primed the front mudguards. These are now just about ready for paint. Rear mudguard brackets all finished and now being powder coated with the rear mudguards being shaped and filled. Not going to go too over the top with preparation as they need to show a few battle scars to look as if they are originals.....

ReplyDeleteHi, l have just purchased a Hamblin Cadet body along with an Austin Seven Ruby chassis.
ReplyDeleteThe car was outside for many years,so the steel rotted away and now it is only the grp tub with dashboard in but wood floor rotted out. l am gathering parts at the moment to build a rolling chassis. Does anyone in the North West have one of these cars l could take a look at.Also, how many of these Hamblins are still around ?
Hi Knobby, good to hear from another builder!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of any in the North West, but have accumulated a few pictures over the last couple of years that may be of help. I think there are only a few on the road. Have you made contact with Tom Hamblin?
Dave
Hi Dave, good to hear from you too ! There is a lovely Green one for sale at the moment. £8000 spent restoring it . l think my chassis was shortened to make a racer.lt's five inches too short now. l would like to find a section of chassis to weld back on so it fits the body with the correct wheelbase. l am sure someone out there has the remains of a rusty chassis to cut a piece from.? l am actually hoping to collect the body tub tomorrow, weather permitting and give it a proper examination.
ReplyDeletel would be very interested to see those pictures you have Dave.
It may be easier to find a complete 'A' frame? Are you using an A7 engine?

"Cycle' fenders are looking real good. A lot better than the oddly shaped and splayed out fenders I've seen on other cars like yours on the web. I might post some pics of my T basket pieces sometime. Might start a separate blog for that project.
ReplyDeleteThanks Larry, It was also easier to make them all the same(being a bit lazy). Yes, really looking forward to seeing your 'T' project getting started, but there is only so much time we have to put to our projects.........and that can be hard to find!
